Bunnahabhain 11 Year Old Batch 9 Scotch Whisky Advent Calendar 17 December 2018

Bunnahabhain The name Bunnahabhain is an anglicisation of Bun na h-Abhainne, Scottish Gaelic for Mouth of the River. The Bunnahabhain Distillery was founded in 1881 near Port Askaig on Islay and is the Northern-most Islay distillery. The village of Bunnahabhain was founded to house its workers. The Bunnahabhain Distillery draws its water from the Margadale Spring. The Bunnahabhain is one of the milder single malt Islay whiskies available and its taste varies greatly from other spirits to be found on the island of Islay, off the west coast of Scotland. The range of Scotch includes:
  • Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old
  • Bunnahabhain 18 Year Old
  • Bunnahabhain Toiteach
  • Bunnahabhain 25 Year Old
Although not on that list, the blended “Black Bottle”, that contains a quantity of spirit from every distillery on Islay is something I may have to try in the future. Bunnahabhain 11 Year Old Batch 9 (49.5%) Islay whisky from the Bunnahabhain distillery, matured for 11 years then independently bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company. There were 712 bottles released in this batch. We shall see when we give this Scotch a taste in my live Scotch Whisky Advent Calendar tasting on YouTube.
